Between Nick B and I, Simeon's seems to be Sydney's number one funeral food destination. Which is really just kind of strange when you think about it. Nonetheless, with an influx of family on the island, we made a mass booking for a feed at Simeon's, a family restaurant known for satisfying home cooking and good Acadian meat pies.

The menu wasn't too fancy but did include options ranging from burgers, sandwiches and salads, to seafood, lasagna, and a holiday special of turkey paté -all for around the $9-12 mark. It's definitely not Top Chef material, but it was tasty, filling, and served in plentiful portions which was more than what we needed that night.

Kudos to the single server keeping up with our group of 30. You were a saint.

Came back for lunch over the 2017-18 holidays, maybe on the 26th or 27th, and we were the only table taken, and it was pushing noon.  By the time we left around 1, there were more customers, but it wasn't as busy as the prior year when I had come here for supper.  Friendly, standard service.  My side Caesar salad was quite good, standard, but flavorful, and a large size for a side.  I thought by ordering two small dishes, I wouldn't be too full, but that plus the potato skins I got, I couldn't finish it all.  The skins were not bad, with a fair bit of cheese, some bare skins at the side/bottom as often is the case, but no real complaints.  My friend had the hot hamburger with fries & side of carrots, which he liked enough, but didn't find it memorable.  For dessert he tried the mince meat pie and liked it a fair bit, as did I the coconut cream pie.  (after being so full from my meal that I could barely breathe, i still had a sweet tooth.. lol).
So this place is not on my top favorite list of Sydney restaurants, but I find it relaxing, homey and simple enough where I'd still come back anytime someone suggested.

Was up to Sydney the other day.  It was a rather morose trip, not exactly a pleasant reason for a visit, a funeral, but that's life.  We got into town around noon and had to find something for lunch.  Driving around, my wife and I weren't inspired by any of the chains and didn't want fast food and so when we saw Simeon's, we thought it was worth a shot.  The "Family Restaurant" moniker to me usually implies good, simple food.

    And that it was.

We both had club sandwiches (sort of a stable of the genre, I suppose), and they were tasty, reasonably priced, and served with a generous accompaniment of fries and coleslaw.  Nothing revolutionary, nothing special, but exactly what we wre looking for.  Good meal, good value, I'd go back no problem.
